Senior Scholarships

From: Pinky Stone Memorial Meet Scholarship Committee

In conjunction with the 2005 Pinky Stone Memorial meet held December 2-4, 2005, there will be two seniors awarded scholarships in memory of pinky Stone. The scholarships are as follows:

1. $1,000.00 Pinky Stone Scholarship
2. $500.00 Tom Fiumarello Scholarship

The nomination of a gymnast for these awards, the Scholarship Committee believes, can best be made by one who knows her most – you, the coach. Therefore, we are asking you to submit to us prior to the meet the name of one (1) deserving senior gymnast who you believe should be placed in nomination for these scholarships. By lottery, from all nominees received, the recipients will be determined.

In making this selection, we ask you to use the following criteria:

High School senior competing optionally in the 2004 Pinky Stone Meet
Has been USAG competitor for at least 3 years
Accepted to and will attend an accredited college
Will continue gymnastic training and competition in college

An explanation of the above qualifications follows:

A. High School Senior – Gymnast must currently be a senior in High school

B. USAG Competitor – For at least 3 years.

C. Accepted to and will attend an accredited college – It is realized that a gymnast will not decide on what college she will attend until spring. Therefore, the scholarship money will be held in escrow until the gymnast submits proof to the Scholarship Committee that she has been accepted and will attend an accredited college and gymnastic program.

D. Deserving – You, the coach, can use your own standards for this qualification. Whether it be financial need, leadership, progress, or any other criteria you feel appropriate, we believe that you can best make this decision.

As earlier mentioned, we will, from the nominees received, select by lottery, two recipients on Saturday, during the awards ceremony. Alternates will be chosen in case the gymnast first selected fails to meet our guidelines. Again, please submit your nominee prior to November 12th.
